In this week’s Cheap Eats review, Joan Reminick views the menu of chef Steven Del Lima at the new Chow Down Diner in Bethpage as a “well-edited repertoire of cleverly tweaked American classics at diner prices.“ She praises such dishes as the “spunky Southwestern omelet laced with ground chorizo, black beans, jalapeño and cheese” and “plush, deftly-spiced chicken arugula meatballs.“

Critic Peter M. Gianotti revisits La Marmite, now celebrating its 40th year in Williston Park with a new owner, a new chef and a new menu. “Easily recommended: seared diver scallops, with endive marmalade, blood orange and bay greens. Likewise, the slightly smoky, meaty chargrilled octopus with chickpea salad, tapenade and crumbled feta cheese.“ Gianotti awards the restaurant three stars.
