Love Lane Kitchen, one of the North Fork’s most popular restaurants, has a new owner. Earlier in the week a deal was finalized in which Carolyn Iannone, the general manager, bought it from its founder, Michael Avella.
Love Lane Kitchen opened in January 2007, at first serving only breakfast and lunch and adding dinner in 2008. In August 2011, Avella and his wife Patti opened a specialty market, Love Lane Market, right next door.
“It would have been difficult to sell it to an outsider,” Avella said. “Carolyn loves Love Lane as much as I do, and she made me an offer.” Now, he said, he’ll be able to focus on the market. “There’s so much I want do here — expanding the catering, working with local farmers. It’s a lot a lot of work.”
Ianonne started as a manger at Love Lane Kitchen in 2009 and in 2010 became its general manager. “I always said that I’d love to have a place of my own just like Love Lane Kitchen — and now I do.” Ianonne has no plans to change anything at the restaurant. Executive chef George Ramirez remains in place, as does dinner chef Josh Courtney. The two businesses remain connected by more than their shared patio. “We serve a charcuterie plate from the market,” Ianonne said, “and we feature their homemade pasta on our menu.”
Love Lane Kitchen is at 240 Love Lane, Mattituck, 631-298-8989.
