Tonight is the inaugural meal for Love Lane Kitchen’s weekly culinary tour of Italy. Chef John Nordin is kicking off the tour with a visit to Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, Italy’s Northeastern-most region. The four course menu is $35 (excluding tax, tip and drinks) and includes:
Panelle (chickpea fritters) with fava puree, ricotta salata and pomegranate molasses
Pulpi (baby octopus) with rice and peas in a squid-ink sauce
Duck with anchovy sauce, polenta and grilled Treviso radicchio
Bomboloni (fritters) with sultanas and anise syrup
Nordin, a native of Oakdale, is a veteran of the River Café in Brooklyn, TriBeCa Grill and Park Avenue Café in Manhattan and Todd English’s Tuscany at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, among many other fine restaurants. He was brought on board to run the kitchen at Love Lane Market, which is scheduled to open this spring right next to Love Lane Kitchen.
Next Tuesday, Emilia-Romagna; and the following, Trentino-Alto Adige.
