Craig Scali, formerly a partner at Salsa Salsa in Port Jefferson and Blond in Miller Place, just opened Mesquite. Scali described the informal spot as "similar in concept to Salsa Salsa in terms of the menu and quality of food." The order-at-the-counter spot, which does a large takeout business, seats 16 at booths and a counter.
On the menu are such items as calamari with tequila japlapeno slaw, shrimp burrito, a spinach quesadilla and a grilled chicken Caesar wrap. Scali also offers such specials as grilled ribeye steak accompanied by grilled potato salad with watercress, scallions and blue cheese vinaigrette as well as fresh fish tacos.
