Mineola: Shaq dines at Circa

NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal was the life of the party last night at Circa in Mineola. The party in question was the holiday gathering of Apollo Jets, provider of luxury private-jet flights, whose managing partner Al Palagonia is, according to Circa’s owner Joe DeLorenzo, a regular customer. Apollo counts many jet-setting athletes and celebrities among its clients, hence O'Neal's presence.

Circa fed 120 celebrants. The evening started out with passed hors d’oeuvres, and then moved on to chopped salad and a choice of four entrees: filet mignon, sea bass, chicken Sorrentino or chicken Marsala. O’Neal, DeLorenzo said, opted not to choose among main courses: he tried some of everything and then requested an order of chicken Marsala and rigatoni alla vodka to go.

The meal ended with a Viennese dessert table and a jet-shaped cake baked by the Cake Boss himself, Buddy Valastro of Hoboken’s Carlo’s Bake Shop.

At around midnight, O'Neal set off for Republic Airport to catch an Apollo Jet flight home to Boston.

Circa is at 348 E. Jericho Tpke., Mineola, 516-280-2234.
