Celebrated Long Island chef Guy Reuge is looking back on his career, and inviting the public to join him.

Reuge, of Stony Brook’s perennially top-rated restaurant Mirabelle, has just published a memoir, “A Chef’s Odyssey,” and on Thursday, Oct. 20, he’ll be offering a four-course dinner plus a signed copy of the book for $110.

The memoir traces Reuge’s life from his childhood and apprenticeships in the Loire Valley of central France to increasingly big jobs in Paris and New York (including stints at La Cygne and La Tulipe) to his opening of Mirabelle in St. James in 1984 and its move to the Three Village Inn in Stony Brook in 2009. If you’ve ever wondered what Reuge looked like as a toddler, check out the snapshot on page 14. The book, which also includes about 60 signature recipes, will be available from in November.

-Panisses (chickpea pancakes) and harissa mayonnaise

-Maple-glazed quail with fried eggplant, lime and sherry-maple syrup

-Aged shell steak with red-wine braised beef short rib and autumn vegetable medley

-Gateau Mirabelle with petits fours
