Left Coast Kitchen and Cocktails gets in the Oktoberfest spirit starting Friday.

The Merrick gastro pub, which earned a two-star rating in Newsday earlier this year, celebrates the 'fest from Sept. 23 to Oct. 7 with menu specials and five beers on tap from Oceanside's Barrier Brewing Co.

The restaurant also has partnered with a local charity to support research on Alpers syndrome, a brain disease, donating 50 cents from every Barrier Brewing sale and $1 from each Oktoberfest special to the Wantagh-based Brendan and Liam Shanahan Foundation.

For $20, diners also many purchase a $35 coupon to be used at Left Coast. Proceeds from these sales will be divided between the restaurant and the foundation.

Chef Chris Randell's Oktoberfest menu includes a "borscht salad," with vegetables and beet-creme fraîche broth; apple latkes with smoked sable; a combo plate of smoked pork chop, bratwurst and pork belly with braised red cabbage and boiled potatoes; turkey schnitzel with potato strudel; and breaded lobster stuffed with Black Forest ham and Emmentaler cheese, paired with potatoes and fennel sauerkraut. Dessert: German-style strawberry shortcake.
