Ever since February, Love Lane Kitchen has been holding regional Italian dinners on Tuesday nights. Tonight the Mattituck restaurant is offering a special treat: In honor of Campania / Naples (la regione del giorno), Love Lane has invited guest pizzaiolo Jason Brunetti of Westhampton Beach’s Pizzetteria Brunetti to make pizza.

“But Love Lane Kitchen doesn’t have a pizza oven,” you say. True, but Love Lane Market does. The Market, next door to the Kitchen, is slated to open later this summer, but for the past week or so, Love Lane’s owner Mike Avella has been firing up the wood-burning pizza oven, which is now ready for its test drive.

Who better to take the peel than Jason Brunetti, whose Neapolitan pizzas are among Long Island’s best. Tonight Brunetti will be making two simple pies: marinara, with tomato and anchovies, and Margherita, with tomato and homemade mozzarella.

That’s the antipasto. First course is stuffed artichokes; second course is stuffed squid and dessert is almond custard. All for $50.

Love Lane Kitchen is at 240 Love Lane, Mattituck, 631-298-8989.
