The Grill Room in Hauppauge, which opened in 1994 and closed earlier this year, has been reborn as The Grill. New owners Michael Silva and Michelle Clarke both had long stints at the old restaurant before leaving a few years ago. Silva said that the new name is deliberately similar to the old one, adding, “Right here in the middle of the Hauppauge industrial park, this was a great business that we’re trying to revive.”

Chef Michael Heinlein was chef-owner of the Twisted Vine in Huntington from 2012 to 2013, then cooked at the short-lived Huntington branch of Centerport’s The Shack. His New American menu at The Grill includes such dinner appetizers as short rib and waffles ($13), crabcakes with shaved apple-fennel salad and basil aioli ($16); mains such as grilled sweet potato-crusted salmon with toasted spaetzle, pan-roasted striped bass with red quinoa and pearl couscous pilaf ($32) and spaghetti all’Amatriciana ($26).

Lunch is more casual with lots of salads and sandwiches ($12 to $16) and a 10-ounce burger topped with Gruyère and bacon on a brioche bun, with fries ($18).

Silva said that in the month that the restaurant has been open, the bar is already hopping. On Friday night there is live music. The Grill is open Monday to Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday 11:30 to 11 p.m., and Saturday 5 to 11 p.m.

The Grill is at 160 Adams Ave., Hauppauge, 631-436-7330.
