Long Beach is already home to Shoregasboard, a convocation of food trucks where Riverside Boulevard hits the beach. This summer, two more food trucks have pulled up.
Cultured Yogurt & Waffles is located on the boardwalk at National Boulevard and serves Chobani yogurt with fruit, nut and granola toppings ($6 to $6.50) and fresh-baked Belgian waffles served with ice cream, yogurt and / or topping ($7 to $8). The truck's most popular item is proving to be the "WaffleWich" ($8), two waffles sandwiching ice cream or yogurt and up to three toppings. Cultured Yogurt & Waffles is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., always on sunny days and sometimes on cloudy-drizzly ones. Check its Facebook page for updates.
Sandbar Sandwich Co. is parked right on the sand, on the beach in front of Riverside Boulevard. And not only is it on the sand, it serves sandwiches! Menu items include ahi tuna baguette ($11), grilled chicken pesto on ciabatta ($10.50) and a vegetarian Mediterranean wrap ($9).
Sandbar and Cultured are owned and operated by the same folks who last year drove Odie's Ocean Grill onto the sand opposite Edwards Boulevard. The truck is there this year, too, selling tacos (two for $9), lobster rolls ($15) and more.
Sandbar and Odie's are open daily from noon to 6 p.m. as long as the weather is good.
