Chef Jintana Lauchalermsuk of Frankly Thai in Franklin Square has come up with a new noodle dish, which she and her husband Frankie Perrone are featuring as a special: basil noodles with ground pork and shrimp ($15.95).
As Perrone explains it, the dish is a Thai take on the Italian pasta Bolognese. Made with fat Thai noodles similar to the Japanese udon, it's the kind of dish that allows for twirling on the fork. “People love to twirl,” Perrone said.
The restaurant will be open until Oct. 1, when it closes temporarily for three and a half weeks while the entire staff takes its annual trip to Thailand.
Frankly Thai is at 959 Hempstead Tpke., Franklin Square, 516-616-4393, franklythai.com.
