We’ve got wine, we’ve got ducks, we’ve got bison and we’ve got lots vegetables, but up until recently, Long Island has been a wheat-free zone.
Enter Amber Waves Farm, established last year by Catherine Baldwin and Amanda Merrow just behind the farmers market in Amagansett. Their goal is to promote and invigorate local grain production and milling on Long Island.
On Wednesday June 30, from 5 to 8 p.m., the farm will be hosting an event, “Wheat three ways: bread, beer and berries.” Farmers, bakers, and brewers will be on hand to explain how to grow and mill your own flour, bake your own bread and brew your own beer. Tastings of bread, beer and whole-grain salads will be offered.
Amber Waves Farm is at 375 Main St., Amagansett.
