The calendar may say that tomorrow is Thursday, but New Year’s Day, no matter when it falls, always has that Sunday kind of feeling. Which calls for a late-day breakfast or brunch.
These three Long Island restaurants may have what you’re looking for.
Painter’s Restaurant (416 S. Country Rd., Brookhaven, 631-803-8593) Brookhaven will open at 11:30 a.m. and offer its regular Sunday brunch and lunch menus from 11:30 a.m. till 4 p.m. Choices include breakfast pizza ($12), huevos rancheros ($12), a lobster BLT ($18) and, naturally, a burger ($12)
West East All Natural Bistro & Wine Bar (758 S. Oyster Bay Rd., Hicksville, 516-939-6618) will start service at noon and offer its $24 prix-fixe Sunday brunch menu throughout the afternoon. Start with hickory-smoked tomato soup or mini Reuben sliders, moving on to an entree such as steak and eggs or lobster mac’n cheese, finishing with your choice of dessert from the menu.
And, in Merrick, Left Coast Kitchen (1810 Merrick Rd, Merrick, 516-868-5338) is featuring a special composite menu with choices from its weekend breakfast and weekday lunch menus. It will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Choices should include its “Morning in the Mission” quesadilla ($14), chicken and waffles ($14) and the signature LCK burger ($14.50).
