New to Atlantic Beach is Anthony’s Family Style Restaurant, which takes over the site that once housed Chez Peter.

Owner Anthony Brew previously owned Serata in Long Beach, which closed following superstorm Sandy. Brew said that he and his new restaurant's chef, Oscar Contor,  worked together at several Matteo’s restaurants. Brew said that the two started out together at the Matteo’s in Howard Beach, some 14 years ago, when Brew, then a busboy, was only 14.

Here at Anthony's, portions are meant for more than one. Small orders, said Brew, usually satisfy two eaters, while the large portions can feed four to five. On the menu: zuppa di clams or mussels ($12 small; $20 large),  two meatballs with salad ($12), chopped salad ($11; $16), pasta Bolognese ($16; $21); chicken Parmigiana ($19; $24); veal Francese ($20; $25) and shrimp Lori ($21; $29), which features pan-seared shrimp on a bed of burnt string beans.  All vegetables here, in fact, are available sauteed or burnt. And some of the pastas are made in-house.

Anthony’s Family Style Restaurant is at 1846 Park St., Atlantic Beach, 516-612-3900
