Left Coast Kitchen & Cocktails now lays claim to the former Merrick home of Jessie’s Roadhouse. Chef Chris Randell, who owns the place with his wife, Heather, described the freshly renovated space as a gastro pub that evokes “Brooklyn and the East Village.”

If Randell's name sounds familiar, it may be because he was executive chef at City Cellar in Westbury. On Randell’s menu: French onion chowder ($8), “no joke spicy” beef taco ($11), root beer glazed porterhouse ($21) and “more long than short” rib ($24). A $5 kid’s menu features such choices as mac and cheese and chicken fingers with sweet potato tots.
