The rotisseries are spinning at the new Azafrán Colombian Restaurant, which recently opened in the St. James strip mall space that’s hosted a string of predecessors — the short-lived Sweet Tomato Brick Oven Pizza & Grill and almost-as-fleeting Attilio’s Grill; before that was the long-standing Bella Vita City Grill.
Chef-owner Israel Bustos previously cooked at Pollos Mario in Queens. While rotisserie roasted chicken figures prominently in his repertoire, ($9 whole; $5 half; $11 for a platter that includes one-quarter chicken, consommé, rice, fries and a salad), his menu also features an extensive list of seafood and steak specialties. Among them: carne asada, or grilled steak ($13.25); seafood casserole ($21.75); arroz con camarones, or rice with shrimp ($16.95); T-bone steak ($20.50); and chuletas a la parilla, or grilled pork chops ($14.25). Most everything is accompanied by salad, rice and beans and fries.
