What would you call a restaurant that serves such Italian-Chinese creations as Asian Caesar salad and chicken Francaise egg roll?
Marco Polo’s, of course.
Marco Polo's @ The Viana Hotel & Spa, an East-West fusion restaurant, opened last month in a sleek new Westbury hotel. The kitchen is under the command of chef Phil Rendel, a graduate of the New York Institute of Technology Culinary School. Rendel named as specialties Thai skirt steak with caramelized onions and peanut sauce as well as tuna tataki salad.
The afternoon I stopped by to check out the attractive space, I was told that lunch wasn't yet being served. All that should change tomorrow, when the midday meal kicks off. There's also a breakfast buffet with many made-to-order items.
