My colleague James Bernstein reports in today's Newsday that Philippe, Jericho’s high-end Chinese eatery, is throwing a New Year’s Eve party tonight for customers who have to work the evening of Dec. 31.
“It’s for everyone in the hospitality industry,” explained manager James Ragonese, “plus firefighters, policeman, nurses, doctors.” Wednesday night will proceed as usual in Philippe’s serene dining room; the bar half of the restaurant will be the epicenter of celebration. From 8 to 9 p.m. guests can enjoy passed hors d’oeuvre and an open bar. After 9, order off the menu and groove to a DJ (if you can do two things at once). At midnight there will be a Champagne toast. Then it’s up to you to remember that it’s Thursday morning and you probably have to go to work in a few hours.
Philippe is at 399 Jericho Tpke., Jericho, 516-605-2555.
