Piecraft owners Chris Dolan and Thomas Corning have opened their second design-your-own-pizza restaurant (think Chipotle, with pizza) in the Willow Wood Shoppes in Wantagh.

The Island Park original, established in 2015, is one of a scad of DIY pizzerias to open on Long Island in the past two years. PizzaRev (four locations), Blaze (three locations) and Pizza Studio (one location), however, are all national chains. Whereas Dolan and Corning are local restaurateurs whose past ventures included Café Laguna in Long Beach and Olive Oil’s in Point Lookout.

Piecraft has a pizza-plus menu — wings, meatballs, quinoa bowls — largely driven by health trends. (The standard crust contains whole wheat.) Toppings include burrata, pesto, Gorgonzola and shaved Parmesan and Piecraft also has a separate preparation area and oven for gluten-free pies. Pies range from $6.50 to $11. With craft beer, wine and cocktails and a gastropub décor, both Piecraft locations feel more like restaurants than their competitors.

This weekend, Piecraft will be holding a grand-opening celebration, with a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Congressman Peter King and former Sen. Al D’Amato are slated to appear at the ceremony and, later in the day, Minnie Mouse will make an appearance as well. On Saturday and Sunday T-shirts and gift cards will be given away all day.

Piecraft Pizza Bar is at 1187 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh, 516-654-9350,
