Long Island’s customize-your-own-personal-pizza trend continues apace. PizzaRev, the California-based franchise chain, is set to open its second Long Island store on Thursday in Valley Stream.
With its two-month-old Syosset store, PizzaRev joins a growing cadre of customized-pie slingers including Blaze Pizza (West Babylon, Bay Shore and Hicksville) and Pizza Studio (Farmingdale).
You’ll find Valley Stream’s PizzaRev at the south entrance to the Green Acres Mall adjacent to Chipotle — a fitting location since the pizza chain borrows the Mexican grill’s format and translates it into pizza: Assisted by a PizzaRev “crafter,” customers choose their crust (regular or gluten-free), sauce (red, white, olive oil or barbecue) and cheese (“Italian” or “reduced-fat Italian cheese,” blue, ricotta, feta or vegan) and then as many ingredients as they desire from about two dozen meats and vegetables. The 11-inch pie cooks in about three minutes in a 900-degree gas-fired hearth oven. No matter the toppings, every pizza is $8.25.
On opening day, PizzaRev will be holding a benefit for the Valley Stream-based Building Homes for Heroes. Customers can “name the price” of their pizza (suggested: $8) and all the money will go to the not-for-profit, which builds and gifts mortgage-free homes, and completes home modifications, for veterans and their families.
PizzaRev’s next location, at Tanger Outlet in Deer Park, is slated for June, with Hauppauge to follow later in the year.
PizzaRev is at 2034 Green Acres Rd., Green Acres Mall, Valley Stream, 516-599-0555, pizzarev.com.
