Among Nautical Mile restaurants, Rachel's has a reputation for particularly good food. Starters include Little Neck clams seared with chorizo, corn and tomatoes, stir-fried calamari, and a blackened shrimp-and-fresh-mozzarella Napoleon. Rachel's signature appetizer is Japanese tuna "nachos," in which spicy tuna tartare and avocado are served atop rice-paper "nachos" and sprinkled with nori (seaweed) ribbons. Fans of free choice will appreciate the kitchen's willingness to prepare any one of half a dozen species in any one of five styles: pan seared, blackened, Oriental-grilled, feta-oregano-crusted or sauteed. In addition, there are a dozen-odd entrees to choose from--seafood risotto, crab-and-corn-crusted mahi-mahi, crispy salmon strudel, for example--as well as a number of pasta dishes. Whether you're in the indoor dining room or the outdoor deck, you will have a lovely view of the water at Rachel's.
