Joan Reminick finds good burgers and roast chicken, tender skirt steak and even a "soul-warming" Guinness beef stew with root vegetables at Old Fields. She gives the newly renovated, family-friend spot in Greenlawn two-and-a-half stars in this week's Cheap Eats column.

The latest Long Island outpost of Philippe gets two stars from Peter Gianotti in today's Newsday. He recommends the hot-and-sour soup, lettuce wraps, "velvet chicken" and American black bass finished with black bean sauce on one side, garlic sauce on the other -- topped off with red-velvet cake.
