The next generation of Indian dining is upon us, serving dishes from India and beyond, which includes Persian-inspired plates and of-the-moment American dishes like avocado toast and crispy artichoke hearts.

RM Bistro Progressive Indian Cuisine has opened in what had been Pacific Moon in Commack, helmed by Apaar and Aman Verma and their father, Arun Verma, former owner of Rangmahal, which closed in Hicksville in 2015.

Listings start with naan and paratha ($2.50 to $5), small plates like crispy artichoke hearts battered in chickpea flour ($10), haifa falafel ($6) with pickled onions and cucumber yogurt, and samosa ($6).

Lamb is sold as curry ($16) with onion, garlic and tomato; saag ($16) with spinach and mustard leaves; and chana ($18) with chickpeas and tomato.Vegetables range from baingan bartha-style eggplant ($14) and bhindi masala (okra, $14) to vegetable biryani ($14). Kebabs from the tandoor are also on the menu ($14 to $35).

Look for a full bar and a dining room of neutrals with plenty of natural light. For now, RM Bistro is open Tuesday to Saturday from 3 to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m.
