S.T.A.G.S Tap House goes on hiatus in Huntington

One of the buzziest openings of the year, S.T.A.G.S Tap House has closed temporarily after four months. The restaurant, which opened in July on Main Street in Huntington, was pure gastropub with all the required signifiers: exposed brick, reclaimed wood, Edison light bulbs, craft beers on tap and a menu of gussied-up comfort food.

That menu was the work of Adam Goldgell, a veteran Long Island chef who achieved national prominence when he was runner-up on the first season of Food Network’s “Restaurant Express” with Robert Irvine. Goldgell, a consultant, left shortly after the restaurant opened and was succeeded by his sous chef Koji Kakimoto.

S.T.A.G.S is owned by Jeffrey States and Joe Forgione. A third partner, manager Michael Garbedian, left some time ago. States and Forgione said that they would be reopening in the near future.

Before S.T.A.G.S, the spot at the corner of Main and Green streets had been Ideal Element and, before that, Ideal Cheese, Daisho and, for more than 20 years, Dragon Gate.
