Restaurants are constantly fine-tuning, but sometimes they need to pause and take a couple of deep breaths. Joe Forgione and Jeffrey States opened S.T.A.G.S Tap House in August and last week took the unusual step of closing its doors for five days to regroup.
“We wanted to figure out a way to get more people in the door,” Forgione said. “More people to try the food, and more people to see that a great bar we have — 40 beers on tap.”
And so, after a five-day hiatus, the Huntington gastropub reopened on Tuesday, with a raft of regular promotions designed to increase business.
Starting next week, Forgione said, Monday nights will be “Industry nights;” Tuesday nights will be “two-fer Tuesdays” (with half-priced drinks); Wednesdays will do double duty as “wing night” and “beer-flight night;” Thursdays, ladies’ night; Friday and Saturday nights will have “reverse happy hours” from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.; Saturday morning, get your “kegs and eggs.” Starting now, you can order a la carte dishes such as smoked bratwurst wrapped in pretzel dough and a tandoori cauliflower steak.

Koji Kakimoto remains executive chef, and he has simplified some of the more fanciful menu items created by consulting chef Adam Goldgell.
New to the team is general manager Cory Land, who has management experience at, among other restaurants, Cheesecake Factory and Toku in Manhasset.
S.T.A.G.S Tap House is now open from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Mondays to Fridays, Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to midnight.
