Scottos Wood Fired Pizza Restaurant and Lounge in Westbury has closed.
The cavernous restaurant originally opened in 2009 as Luzzo’s Coal Oven Pizza Napolitana, the Long Island offshoot of a popular East Village spot. It lasted four months in that incarnation. Following a partial ownership change, the place became Scottos and, instead of coal, used wood to fuel its pizza oven.
That oven still produced fine pies with well-blistered yet puffy-edged crusts. Remembered fondly: the bright Margherita and the fragrant “al prosciutto tartufo.“
In previous years, the site had hosted Romano’s Macaroni Grill.
