After a decade of carbo-loading Bellmore with doughnuts and breads, Spiga Bakery owners Luca and Rob Caravello have doubled their reach with a new location.
The Massapequa satellite of Spiga Bakery opened on Merrick Road on Tuesday, and to celebrate, the Caravello brothers are offering free coffee (one per customer) and tastings to customers all week.
“We were running out of space,” in Bellmore, said Luca Caravello, and had been seeking a new location since last year.
The new location is roughly the same size as the Bellmore original, and will offer “pretty much everything,” that the Bellmore location does, Caravello said, save for a few savory items.
That means the racks are loaded with the bakery’s artisanal breads, such as prosciutto bread, and the cases are filled with cakes, cookies, cheesecake, doughnuts and the bakery’s signature tri-color mousse.
Spiga Bakery, opens at 7 a.m. daily, and is closed on Mondays, 4636 Merrick Rd., Massapequa, 516-541-2300, spigabakery.com
