They’re a childhood favorite with an adult twist — and seemingly no expiration date. Boozy milkshakes continue to evolve at Long Island eateries, proving the dessert drinks aren’t just for kids.

Kooky Cookie Dough shake at George Martin’s Burger Bar (Multiple locations): The restaurant's megaquake shakes come with a shot of vanilla vodka, coconut rum or Irish cream at locations in Massapequa (4902 Merrick Rd.) and Rockville Centre (209 N Long Beach Rd.). Flavors range from the Kooky Cookie Dough, made with egg-free cookie dough, vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and finished with a cookie dough ice cream sandwich or the Lava Flow, which is a chocolate shake with a lava cake on it. ALSO TRY: You’ll find spiked floats as well as shakes. Among the floats is the Guinness extra stout float (vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup and Guinness beer) and the Not Your Father’s Root Beer float (root beer ale, Baileys Irish Cream and vanilla ice cream). Banana Foster at New York Burger Bar (4225 Merrick Rd., Massapequa ): The Banana Foster milkshake on the menu at locations Massapequa (4225 Merrick Rd.,) and Rockville Centre has two scoops of vanilla ice cream, bananas, caramel sauce, cinnamon, Myers’s Dark Rum and whipped cream topping. ALSO TRY: The restaurant’s Oreo Cookies n’ Cream milkshake features the popular Nabisco Oreos in ice cream form and Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur. Park Ave., Long Beach): You can add a shot of alcohol to any of the restaurant’s six signature shakes — which range from Candy Crush, (served in a mini M&M coated glass with birthday cake ice cream and rainbow sprinkles and topped with a Carnival Pop lollipop, cotton candy, chocolate chips and sprinkled with other candies) to The Dark Nightmare, which is served in a chocolate sprinkle coated glass filled with dark chocolate ice cream, chocolate chips and cookie dough pieces and topped with a glazed doughnut, chocolate cake and a chocolate éclair. Memory Lane at Flo’s Luncheonette (38 West Main. St., Patchogue): The shakes range from salty to spicy to sweet or sour. Memory Lane has childhood favorites such as cotton and rock candy, whipped cream, strawberry ice cream in a frosty vanilla glass rimmed with pearl, blue and pink chocolates. Godiva Chocolate Liqueur and cake-flavored vodka make it an adult beverage. ALSO TRY: Spiced Twinkie, as its name suggests, consists of the golden sponge cake with creamy filling and vanilla ice cream mixed with Fireball whiskey and Kahlua. It’s topped with bits of Twinkie, white chocolate, marshmallow fluff, rainbow rock candy, house-made whipped cream, sprinkles and a fried Twinkie. The Crazy Monkey at Burgerology (Multiple locations): Bartenders at locations in Huntington (308 Main St.) and Rockville Centre (226 Merrick Rd.) can make any of its signature shakes or BYOS (build your own shake) with spirits, says general manager John Falcicchio. One of the most popular is The Crazy Monkey — a Nutella, banana and peanut butter shake recommended with Frangelico Hazelnut liqueur.  ALSO TRY: Surprise Party is a birthday cake ice cream shake that pairs well with Smirnoff Vanilla vodka. Patron-Kahlua Caramel Mocha at Dirty Burger (12 Manetto Hill Rd, Plainview): Douglas Pierno, general manager at Dirty Burger, which has two alcohol-infused milkshakes on its menu, says the appeal of these drinks is that it’s “a dessert with a flavor boost, a kick and a twist.” The Patron-Kahlua Caramel Mocha shake packs a one-two punch. It’s made with 1 ounce each of Patron XO Cafe and Kahlua, a coffee-flavored liqueur. It also features a separate ounce each of caramel and chocolate sauces, 4 scoops of caramel ice cream and 1.5 cups of heavy cream.
