On Saturday, July 30, the St. James Fire Department will host a beer-and-food pairing  dinner to raise money for the town’s 9/11 Memorial Park. The park, at the intersection of Woodlawn and Jefferson avenues, will feature a piece of steel from the World Trade Center. According to John Scomillio, one of the project’s organizers, the park’s purpose “is to honor all who fell victim to the events of that day.”

Beer will be supplied by St. James Beverage and dinner is courtesy of Kitchen A Bistro. Chef-owner Eric Lomando provided this provisional five-course menu:

Shrimp and tomato risotto
Arugula-fig salad with Prosciutto di Parma
Confit halibut with puree of local corn
Red-wine-braised short ribs of beef
Warm chocolate cake

Reservations are $80 per person in advance; $100 at the door. You can book a table for eight for $600 (a $40 savings). All prices include tax and tip.

The dinner is from 7 to 10 p.m. at the St. James Fire Department, 221 Jefferson Ave., St. James. To make a reservation, call the Fire Department at 631-584-5799.

Kitchen A Bistro will be providing the food for the benefit.
