Fast-casual meets table service at Long Island’s first Stewart’s All American, scheduled to open this summer in the Willow Wood shopping center in Wantagh. The national chain will be in the space that had been Spasso’s Pizzeria, now closed, and Ceriello Fine Foods, still open. (Ceriello’s in Williston Park, Manhattan and other locations in the Northeast are separately owned and not affected by the imminent closure.)

The sit-down restaurant is one of several options under the brand umbrella, which also includes drive-ins, summer-only spots and express locations.

The restaurant will offer hot dogs and Stewart’s brand root beer and fountain sodas, floats and sundaes. The menu also features burgers and wraps as well as regional dishes like pierogies and pork roll sandwiches.

The Long Island spot points to the brand expansion of the New Jersey-based company from over 60 eateries to more table service restaurants and partnerships. At the end of 2015, Stewart’s All American teamed up with the Florida-based On the Move convenience stores to set up within over 200 stores around Florida and Georgia.

The first Stewart’s opened in 1924, conceived in Mansfield, Ohio, by Frank Stewart with a super-short menu of root beer and salty popcorn.

Stewart’s didn’t make its way to New York until last May, when an express location replaced Nathan’s Famous in the Staten Island Mall. A full-service Stewart’s opened in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn in November.
