Some of Long Island’s best chefs are coming together at Swallow in Huntington to cook a dinner to benefit No Kid Hungry, a national campaign organized by the anti-childhood hunger nonprofit Share Our Strength.
The tab for the Feb. 27 dinner is $200, but it buys a six-course sit-down meal prepared by Swallow’s chef-owner James Tchinnis along with Michael Psilakis (MP Taverna in Roslyn), Stephan Bogardus (North Fork Table & Inn in Southold), Marc Anthony Bynum (Hush Bistro in Farmingdale) and Kent Monkan (Wild Goose in Port Washington, Heirloom Tavern in Glen Head, Brass Rail in Locust Valley) as well as Kate Snider, of Cantine in Brooklyn.
Tchinnis said that of the nearly 284,000 people on Long Island who receive emergency food every year, more than a third are children under 18. “As a father,” he said, “I’m committed to working with members of the community to address this important issue.”
