Alex Algieri, who earned three stars from Newsday at North Fork Oyster Company in Greenport, has taken over as executive chef and general manager at The Patio, a seafood-centric restaurant at the Freeport Inn and Marina on South Main Street.
After Greenport, Algieri briefly cooked at Jedediah Hawkins in Jamesport before heading west in the spring to help The Patio regroup after Sandy. “The place didn’t take a horrible beating,” he said, “but there was a lot of damage, and a lot of work to do before we reopened in May.”
Algieri has kept in touch with the East End baymen whose wares he featured at NoFoOyCo, and he wants make the raw bar at The Patio a destination.
Monday nights are All You Can Eat Lobster nights. For 24.95 you get soup and salad and unlimited half lobsters at a time with clams, mussels, new potatoes and corn.
