In today's Newsday, Peter Gianotti recommends Athena, a "country-Greek eatery" in Amityville, as an antidote to holiday busyness. Giving the restaurant one-and-a-half stars, Gianotti praises its spreads, lamb shish-kebab and a hunter-style combination of veal and sausage.

Sweet & Spicy Caribbean Cafe gets one-and-a-half star from Newsday's Joan Reminick. The casual eatery in Amityville entices the adveturesome diner with such dishes as curried chicken and goat, jerk chicken, oxtail, even the goat's head soup.
