Peter Gianotti finds refreshed decor and chefs as comfortable with cooked food as raw at Kinha Sushi in Garden City. Try the nigirizushi, the traditional presentation of uncooked fish on ovals of vinegared rice, yellowtail with a citrusy yuzu-miso vinaigrette, or the miso black cod, Gianotti advises, giving the restaurant one-and-a-half stars.

Fresco Crêperie & Café gets two stars from Joan Reminick, who praises the Williston Park restaurant's savory and sweet selections. Among her favorites: one filled with ground sausage, sliced potatoes, caramelized onions and Cheddar; and on the sweet side, a tart-sweet orange-caramel crepe paired with "dreamy" hot chocolate.
