Newsday's Joan Reminick says Azerbaijan Grill's expansion into East Meadow is a "smart move" in this week's Cheap Eats column. She gives the restaurant two stars and says the jujeh kebab, above, pieces of Cornish hen marinated with lemon and saffron before hitting the grill, is "a personal favorite."

Jake's Steakhouse puts Hempstead Turnpike "on the map" for steaks, Peter Gianotti writes in today's Newsday. He give the restaurant two stars, touting salad starters that give way to "a thick, juicy porterhouse for two; a flavorful shell steak; and an outstanding namesake filet mignon under a blue-cheese crust and a thatch of frizzled onions, finished in red-wine sauce."
