Savino's Hideaway pays plenty of attention to visuals

Savino's Hideaway pays plenty of attention to visuals with lots of classy white wainscoting and dark polished wood, along with stylish little touches such as dish towels doubling as napkins. (Oct. 27, 2012) Credit: Kathy Kmonicek

Joan Reminick reviews Savino’s Hideaway in Mount Sinai, newly reopened after a five-year hiatus and a major makeover. It’s “a visual knockout” where “service is gracious and — quite a coup — at prices you’d expect at a strip mall pizza-pasta place.”

Peter Gianotti visits Oak Room Tavern, “a newcomer that looks as if it has been pouring since Prohibition’s repeal.” There’s live music on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights, so “if you'd like to linger over a beer, or some audible conversation, pick another evening.”
