Toro Tapas and Tequila in Patchogue opens this weekend, with co-owner Ariel Bonilla greeting guests while partner and chef Alex Bujoreanu — originally from Barcelona — running the kitchen.

Bonilla, originally from El Salvador, steers his family’s second round at this location. His father, Jose Bonilla, owned Jalapeno restaurant at this address in 2013. It closed in early 2015. The family also owns La Confianza Deli in Patchogue.

Before joining Bonilla, Bujoreanu debuted on Long Island as the opening chef at Viaggio Tapas in Rockville Centre, a dining experience that wowed Bonilla to such a degree he wanted to bring something similar to Patchogue. Bujoreanu remains one of three partners at Viaggio.

Bujoreanu attended hospitality school in Spain.

On the menu at Toros this weekend, expect to find smoked Basque oysters and gazpacho among starters ($11 to $14), spinach or salt cod croquettes among tapas ($9 to $30), dry-aged steak and paella among entrees, and share plates ($38 to $58).

The wine list is predominantly Spanish, from Cava and Sherry, Vinho Verde white, rose with Tempranillo among reds.

For now, Toro Tapas and Tequila is open from 5 to 11 p.m. on weekends, 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday to Thursday.
