The vintages of Italy will star at a wine tasting dinner scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Thom Thom in Wantagh. At $55 a person, the five-course meal (with wine pairings) will start at 7 p.m. and will feature as guest speaker wine expert Ivan Gonzalez.
Highlights of chef Omar Bello's dinner will be a first course tempura sampler of Chilean sea bass, shrimp, kani Kama, asparagus, sweet potato and a bonito sauce, paired with a Botter Spago Prosecco DOC NV and a Muri-Gries pinot grigio 2010. A main course of braised Colorado lamb shank with mashed Idaho potatoes and shiitake mushrooms will be matched with a Montepeloso A Quo Toscano Rosso 2009.
