Weekend picks: Jetsmania on tap

Get ready for the Steelers.

Here are a few eateries where you can find some hearty bar food and more to tackle your appetite. And you can watch Mark Sanchez and company in action. The smelter is ready.

The Main Event in Plainview is a buoyant, busy spot, with enough TVs and more than enough food. The menu is loaded with Buffalo-style chicken wings, quesadillas, "extreme nachos," steaks, burgers and more, plus the "field goal fries" and beer-battered onion rings to go with them.

The Main Event is at 799 Old Country Rd., Plainview; 516-935-5120.

There are branches of Croxley Ales in Franklin Square, Rockville Centre and Farmingdale. Each has an excellent beer list. All the standards are on the menus, from steak sandwiches and pulled pork to macaroni-and-cheese, chicken wings and "hot fries" with spicy Cheddar sauce. Irish nachos add bacon, scallions and melted mozzarella.

Croxley Ales locations include 129 New Hyde Park Rd., Franklin Square, 516-326-9542; 7-9 S. Park Ave.,  Rockville Centre, 516-764-0470; and 190 Main St., Farmingdale, 516-293-7700.

Miller's Ale House, which has branches in several states, sports two on Long Island, in Levittown and Deer Park. The basics are covered, along with prime rib and lobster. You can sample clam chowder, conch chowder, chili, salads and sandwiches.

Miller's is at 3046 Hempstead Tpke in Levittown, 516-520-7000; and 1800 Grand Blvd., at Tanger Outlets at The Arches in Deer Park, 631-667-0228.

The Main Event, Plainview.
