Nisen in Woodbury hosts a sake-themed dinner on Monday, April 18.
The cost of the six-course meal, which includes a different sake with each, is $90 per person. Sake, an essential part of Japanese cuisine, is a wine made from rice. Although you often see it served warm, better sakes are served cool.
At Nisen, the festivities go from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., starting with a reception featuring blue fin o-toro tuna. The dinner courses highlight grilled baby eggplant with mango-lemongrass glaze, with Renaissance Kanazawa sake; king crab salad with jalapeno vinaigrette, with Ugo No Tsuki; sake-cured salmon tartare with potato crisps, with Zen; miso-glazed black cod with Sesshu Otokoyama; roasted lamb in a Port reduction with Kan Nihonkai; and Valrhona double-chocolate mousse paired with Ai No Hime sparkling sake.
Nisen in Woodbury is at 7967 Jericho Tpke.; 516-496-7000.
