A romance novel app to fall in love with

Is reading romance novels one of your guilty pleasures? If you're a woman, you're far from alone. Romance Writers of America, a group representing writers and publishing professionals, says nearly 65 million Americans read at least one romance novel a year. About 78 percent of the readers are women; the average age of all romance- novel readers is 49.

Novel Engagement, a new mobile app from Romance Writers of America, offers ideas on books to read and helps you follow participating authors. You can search for books by author, title or genre. The app launched in June with 1,000 participating authors and 5,000 books. The group expects double those numbers by year's end. Several Long Island-based writers are participating, including Jeannie Moon and Maggie Van Well.

The free app is available for Android users at the Google Play Store. Users of Apple devices can get the app at the iTunes Store.
