The buzz on the new Apple Watch is it will appeal mainly to younger people who can't go five minutes without checking their social media page. But app makers are gearing up to target older users.

WebMD, for example, has released a free Medication Reminders app that will alert you when it's time to take a pill or other medication. The app also displays instructions about the medication, including whether you should take it with food. WebMD's Medication Reminders app is available for download at Apple's iTunes store.

To use an Apple Watch, you must also have an iPhone. If you're an Android user, there are several smartwatches available for your operating system with similar health-related apps, including some from WebMD.
