Donations of personal-care items sought for homebound seniors

In this season of giving, here's a chance to give something that may be small but will have a big impact on the lives of some fellow Long Islanders.

Family and Children's Association, a not-for-profit human-services organization, is asking for donations of new personal-care items such as deodorant, mouthwash and soap that will be given as gift bags to about 400 homebound seniors in Nassau County. The organization is also looking for items that can help keep seniors warm, such as gloves, scarves and hats.

The donations can be dropped off at Family and Children's Association headquarters at 100 E. Old Country Road in Mineola.
