A major health event can be life-changing at any age, not only for the person who falls ill, but also for his or her loved ones. A free discussion and presentation can help you and your family be better prepared.
Among the subjects discussed will be advance directives, health care proxies and living wills that can ensure your wishes about your care are followed if you are suddenly too ill to make decisions. There will also be discussions on palliative and hospice care. A representative from the Farmingdale Fire Department will offer tips on what to say on the phone when you are calling for help in an emergency.
"Preparing for the Unexpected" is scheduled for next Saturday, 2-4 p.m., at Farmingdale Village Hall. Call 516-249-0093.
