The Department of Veterans Affairs has rolled out new tools at its eBenefits online portal (www.ebenefits .va.gov). Veterans and their families can access 45 features, including retrieving benefits information and downloading official VA correspondence. They also can update direct deposit information and sign up for various benefits.
One of the benefits some vets may be eligible for is Aid and Attendance, a pension benefit even the VA calls "largely unknown." Aid and Attendance can help vets and surviving spouses pay for the care of ailing parents or loved ones.
Elder-law firm Genser Dubow Genser & Cona is holding a free seminar on Aid and Attendance at the Susan C. Snowe Caregiver Resource Center in Melville Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Registration is required. Call at 631-390-5000.
