Even those who don't have firsthand remembrances of D-Day have memories of the music that was popular when the Allies stormed the beaches of Normandy in the decisive battle of World War II.
To honor all veterans, the Friedberg JCC in Oceanside is holding a concert and dinner dance Thursday -- the 69th anniversary of D-Day.
Tickets are $30, which includes a buffet dinner. Live music will be provided by the 20-piece Swingtime Big Band. The band and its vocalists will open the Great American Songbook to play the hits made popular by Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller and other World War II-era swing orchestras.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. To reserve your spot, call 516-634-4151 or email email@example.com.
