Glen Cove jazzes it up with concert

If the summer is already proving to be too hot, relax with some cool jazz.

Glen Cove is kicking off its free outdoor summer concert series Friday with the Marty Napoleon Jazz Quartet. The Brooklyn-born Napoleon, 92, has been performing for 70 years. He has played piano with many of the all-time swing and jazz greats, including Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman and Buddy Rich. Performing with him is singer and trumpeter Bria Skonberg. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Bring a blanket or chair.

The concert is the first of this summer's "Downtown Sounds" series. Concerts will be held every Friday in July and August at 7:30 p.m. at the Glen Cove Village Square. In case of rain, the concert will be moved inside to the Wunsch Art Center at the Finley Middle School. For more information, call 516-759-6970 or go to glencovedowntown.org/
