If you are concerned about your health or anxious after being diagnosed with an ailment, you want to learn everything you can about your condition. The Internet is filled with sites that offer health information. Unfortunately, many also contain misinformation.
While you can find reliable advice on highly regarded websites such as webmd.com and mayoclinic.com, other sites are not as trustworthy. How can you separate those that are helpful from those that might be harmful?
Smithtown Library is holding "Researching Health Issues Online" on Wednesday, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. In addition to giving you information about trustworthy health sites, the free workshop will tell you how to research physicians online to ensure you choose the right doctor.
The workshop is at the Smithtown Library's main branch at 1 North Country Rd. For more information, call 631-265-2072.
