Some older women who are widowed or divorced are looking for love, but most would rather have a night out with friends.
An online survey of 1,020 single women ages 50-68 found that only 38 percent are actively seeking a romantic relationship. But this doesn't mean they are not getting out and having fun. Two-thirds said they are involved in social activities at least once a month, with the most popular outings being dinner with friends or going to the movies.
And when they are not socializing, they are helping others. Nearly 30 percent said they engage in volunteer work. Perhaps best of all, 76 percent said they feel more confident than they did when they were 35.
The survey was commissioned by senior communities home builder Del Webb and conducted by Harris Interactive.
