Facebook is not your father's social network. But it's not just for your grandkids, either.
The popular Internet site, where you create a home page and then link up with friends and family, began as a destination exclusively for college students. But it has grown in popularity among all demographic groups. Last year, the fastest-growing new user segment was women older than 55.
If you'd like to get your face on Facebook but need a lesson, Hofstra University is holding a one-day class Jan. 23 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. You will log on to a computer and be given hands-on instruction that will have you creating your own Facebook page.
The course costs $49. For more information or to register, go to
ce.hofstra.edu, click the link to Spring 2010 classes, scroll down to Career Development and click "Getting Started With Facebook," or call 516-463-7200.
